SAVED FROM DEATH
AN AMAZING RESCUE. (Australian Press Association). (Received this day at 10.30. a.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 25. Two women were saved from death in an amazing way on Saturday night. Herbert Schofield, aged 30, of Kensington, met with a motor accident and was taken home by three men. As they approached his flat they were assailed by a strong smell. In a bedroom, they found Schofield’s sister unconscious in bed. His mother was found in the bathroom in a stupor. A plumber stated a thousand feet of gas had escaped in the room. A doctor stated that had the women stayed a minute longer, in tho room they would have been asphyxiated. Schofield's condition is critical.
