SWIMMING.

RUNANGA CARNIVAL. Over 800 people were piesent at the liunaiiga Baths last evening for the swimming carnival for which the New Zealand lady champions, Misses Stocklc.v, Miller and Hood were competing, their presence giving a decided impetus, to the sport. The 220 yards handicap was a splendid race, four of the competitors turning for the last 20 yards together. Miss Miller sprinted brilliantly and won from Restieaux, amidst tumultous cheering. The other events were also well contested, Miss Stocldey’s displays in the 33 1-3 and 100 yards being especially brilliant,, while Miss Hood’s exhibition of diving evoked unstinted applause Results were as follows:
