EX-SOLDIERS SEEK KEEPERS’ POSTS. 'By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian) OAMARU, Eel). 21. A deputation representing the Oamaru R.S.A. and Soldiers’ Aid Association, introduced by Mr MacPherson, M.P., was received by HOll Mr Taverner (Minister of Railways) this afternoon, requesting the Minister’s consideration of the employment of the unemployed returned men in receipt of pensions and of economic pensions as keepers of level crossings. The Minister, in reply, stated that the question of level crossings, of which there are three thousand in the Dominion, is exercising the minds of the Departmental officers. At present the Department was working on a definite programme for eliminating the dangerous crossings, and if anything could bo done to employ the class of men referred to, it would have his hearty support. When the general question of level crossings received consideration, tlie representations ol the deputation would not bo overlooked.
