RACING PERMITS

AUCKLAND, February 19

The Hon. Mr-do la Perelle. Minister for Internal Affairs, arrived at Darguville yesterday afternoon: In the evening the Minister met the stewards <;Cthe Racing dub in connexion with the request that one of the floating permits be granted to the club lor an extra clay’s racing next season.

The Minister said be was at present visiting various parts of the Dominion and going thoroughly into the* position of racing permit s as they - affected the population. He would not give a decision until he had thoroughly investigated the whole position. The Minister was very emphatic on. the point of not granting permission to duhs to race, away from their own courses unless under very special circumstances.
