A LADY ALPINIST

Hiss M: Cl ynne, an English alpinist, accompanied by Guides Jack Pope and Frank Alack, left Glacier Hotel on .Monday, the 18th inst., and traversed tho Franz Josef Glacier to the Aimer Bivouac. Next day they were suecesivful in making the ascent of Mt. Stenee (9167 ft.), a fine rock peak on the divide north of Mt. Conway. After traversing the huge snowfiekls of tho Franz Josef Glacier, the party made the ascent of the mountain l>y the north face. This peak has not been climbed since March, 1914, when it was first ascended by Dr Teichelmann, or Hokitika, and Alex Graham, of Wnilio Gorge. Miss Glynu'e has since crossed Graham’s Saddle to the Hermitage. Later on she joins the scientific expedition to the Great Barrier reef off the eastern sea border of Australia.
