WAR REGULATIONS

EARLY APPEAL EXPECTED. AUCKLAND, Feb. 14. 11l his presidential address to the Chamber of Commerce, Air 11. T. Alerritt said that it was not his intention to consider the causes which brought about, the Reform debacle at the election, except to state that he late- Government failed to gauge with any degree of accuracy the deep resentment felt by nearly all classes of the community against the seeming reluctance to check the growing interference of the State in the private trading of the community. Apparently such resentment was not confined to the cities,, but even penetrated the ranks of the primary producers. “Recent pronouncements by responsible members of the present Government thoroughly to investigate the position is more than welcome,” continued Air .Merritt. “The country has been waiting for many years for the repeal of the war regulations introduced at a time when they were admittedly necessary.” Air A Terri tt said that lie did not think that lie was betraying a confidence when he informed bis audience that the Chamber, had received an assurance from the Department concerned that the repeal of the regulations would be one of the first questions to be considered. He asked bow long were we .to wait Indore the obnoxious Hanses of the Dairy Control Bill were abrogated.
