PREPARATIONS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). LONDON, Fob. 14. Four scientists sail from Liverpool on February lfith. on a journey of 4,500 miles, with more than one hundred packing cases, some weigning over half a ton, in order to witness a spectacle lasting five minutes. They are: Doctor Jackson, Dr P. Melotto, of Greenwich Observatory; Colonel Stratton and Doctor Carroll, of Cambridge. They are going to' Alalava specially to observe the total oselinso of the sun, which occurs on May Utli. ispecial eclipse expeditions are also proceeding from America, Holland. Gorilla ny and other countries. To minimise. risks of had weather they are taking up stations at various jmjint.s on the bell of the locality, and pooling their results.
