WOOL MARKET
TIMARU SALE FAIRLY GOOD. (By Telegraph—Press Association). TIMA RU, February 10. The second South Canterbury wool s:de of the present season concluded on Saturday morning. The main catalogue was disused of in five and a-half hours. 'Taken all round, the sale was la illy satisfactory. Prices for super halfbrcd wools were down fully 25 per lb on the first sale held here in December. On the other hand, inferior ha Ifbreds were disposed of at prices relatively higher than those secured for super lots. Throo-quarter-hmls and crossbreds went down about Id on the first sale of the season. The demand for merinos was restricted to a small range of buyers, ,and although the prices secured at auction was disappointing. quite a reasonable quantity was disposed of later at prices which were in manv cases in advance ol those obtained at the auction. There were not sufficient competitors at the auction to send merinos along. Even though prices were easier at this scale, the growers generally mot the market feeling that wool was still at payable prices. 'The AYoolbrokers’ Association have not supplied the official range of prices hill the following is the appir<o mate range: Merino, super 18d to 21}, average 16'.d to 17:|d. inferior lid to 2L'd; ha lib red, super Rid to 21 id. average I id to 18:}. inferior l id to 16}d ; Crossbred, super 15d to 171 d, average 13d to 14}; threo-quarierbrod, super 18}d to 2!d, average Ki'.d to 18\. inferior 121 lo 15} ; CWriedale, sillier 18d to 2(V{d, average 16(1 to 18d *, bellies and pieces; Merinos, eood to siqvr 11 Id to 17:Jd. low to medium BUI to 11 ha flwd good to super Lyjd lo 19(1, low to medium lO'.d to lo'd; crossbred, good to super lid lo 15}d. fine dead 18 : | lo |(|i }ivci"iiae If) 1 ,(I to 15J : <otled lrjd lo 15.1(1; erntehings 10(1 to 13d ; no k pice' l 16rl to 17}: Gcrriedale pieces 15H to 18.5 : comeback up to 19i. fine black U" to 1 1|(1.
