President Gil escaped uninjured in an attempt oil his life, when a train on which he. was travelling was dynamited this morning. One fireman was killed. ATTACK ON GIL’S TRATX. MEXICO CITY. Felt. 10. The dynamiting of President Oil's train occurred shortly before the funeral of .Jose Deleon Torn I, at noon, on Saturday, after Toral’s execution for the murder of Ohregon on .July 17th last. It was near San Miguel tie Alleiule. in Quanajuata State. Gil was not injured, but one fireman was killed and the engine and two coaches were wrecked. The miliary escort of Hie train immediately pursued t lie attackers, with orders to execute, any guilty persons they might capture. The attack occurred while the train was crossing a bridge. The fireman. Augustin Martinez, was caught between two cars and killed instantly. Gil’s private car remained on the track. A worse wreck was prevented by Engineer Ramos Espinosa, who applied the brakes immediately. Among prominent passengers was the Moxical Secretary for War, General Joakuin Mamaro. 100,000 AT FUNERAL. MEXICO CITY, February 10. There were one hundred thousand people lining the route at the funeral of Jose De Leon Toral. There were several clashes with a heavy police guard, in which thirty people were injured, and one person was killed. Twenty arrests were made. The police and the soldiers halted riots with fixed bayonets, but the crowds shouted “Viva Toral!” for the artist who was executed calling liimsoli 11 martyr. At one point disorders reached a peak, blit firemen then turned a hose on the crowd, that were blocking tlm street. There was a mountain ol flowers left at Toral’s home. The crowd sang hymns, and shouted and wept at Toral’s grave. YOUNG AUSTRALIANS. INVITED TO .MEXICO. NEW YORK. February in. A message I rum Tuscan, Arizona, says:—Last night, heforo departing for 10 Paso, in Texas, young Australians attended a dinner at which the Mexican Consul, Honor Anchondo, read a message of greeting from the President of .Mexico, Moil. Emilio Poi'tos Gil. Anchondo tendered an official in vita lion to the Australians to visit Mexico. He said: ” i assure you that ymi would lie received there with open arms and with all kinds of consider:: tions and courtesies.”
