L. Caldwell (Karori) 95, won the Wellington match, also the South Island aggregate, taking 2405; T. Boon (Karon) 95, was second, taking 80s; A. Neilson (Napier) 94, was third, taking 60s. Thirty-eight divide £4. Hamilton and Caldwell now lead for the belt with 324, Ballinger 323 second, TRENTHAM, February 12.
With the most perfect weather conditions yet obtained at Trentham, the Taranaki match, 800 yards, commenced this morning. Marksmen desired to be drawn for first places on the mound, as only one range was being used, but the suggestion was not upheld. Several possibles were registered. W. Ballinger is leader ffor the belt. W. Masefield is amongst the leaders. The shooting is so good that 45 is tbo average.
The annual meeting of the Executive recommended a reduction of matches to one range, and to eliminate two of the aggregates. As a possible off 150 can yet be obtained, the belt leaders may be considerably altered. -'
