TRAIN COLLISION AT THORNDON.
WELLINGTON. F<*b. 12. A passenger train from Lower Unit collided with the rear end of a stock train shunting across the main line at Tlmnulon at 7.J0 a.in., wrecking and derailing four trucks and killing ton slump. The permanent way was very little damaged, blit, some time wa.s occupied in clearing the wreckage. Only one outward train was held up. the Wairarapa express, which left, at 9.15 instead of 7.50. The inward suburban passenger trains, however, were blocked and strung out along the line Inwards Kaiwarra. A departmental inquiry is in progress.
