Among the excursionists from Lyttelton on Saturday was Mrs. Johnston, an elderly lady who arrived at Lyttelton in 1862. The lady is among those specia!ly invited to the function on Thursday next when the first electric passenger train will run Irom Christchurch to Lyttelton. In the early days her father, a sea captain, traded to> Hokitika, and had the 'misfortune to be stranded 011 the bar here. Mrs Johnston was a visitor to Hokitika several years ago. The Runanga Cycle Club held another of their popular cycle road races yesterday, the route being ,to tlie -Seven -Mile and back twice, a distance | of !).( miles. A big number of spectators witnessed the race. C. DVatson was unfortunate in meeting with a mishap at the turn for home, which caused him to have a spill. The large field of ninteeu faced the starter, and tlie result was 'J. Devine (3min.) 1, time 30.3-5: S. James (1.40) 2; J. Dobertv (3.30)' 3. 11. Wilson ' was fourth. Nicholson fastest time 27min. 4secs.

The Inangahiia District Schools’ Excursion to Hokitika took place 10-dav, a large party of excursionists arriving shortly after 11 o’clock.
