ACTION BY OWNERS. (Australian Press Association) (Received this day at 10.30. a.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 7, The General Council of tile Minors’ Federation having rejected the Government’s invitation to assist in reviving the coal industry by consenting to a slight, reduction of rates, it is believed other means to achieve the same object are to he taken bv the owners. It is known the colliery owners intend to seek a reduction in freights, but federation officials believe this will not relieve the position. They expect some of the loss profitable pits will he closed and simultaneously a reduction in all rates of pay will be made.
