N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS. ALLOTTED TO WEST I, AN I). [llY TELEGRAPH —PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. I WELLINGTON, Feb. 5 A conference of delegates of the Swimming Centres met to-day. A Canterbury remit, urging the Government to increase, the grant to the N<m- Zealand Amateur Association lo £IOOO was passed. A remit was also passed that swimming should be made compulsory in schools, where facilities were available with a recommendation to the Minister of Education that swimming should he placed on the syllabus if teachers’ exams. Another remit carried was to appoint in an honorary capacity in each centre swimmers to coach teachers, and instructors in the correct methods of swimming. The next championships were allotted to Westland. Following a. discussion, a Hawse's Ray remit, t-liat a. shilling registration foe should not he used to send swimmers to the Olympic Games, was withdrawn.
