The timber workers’ dispute over •Judge Lukin’s award, providing for a -18 hours working week, instead ol' the ■l4 hours previously in force, came to a head in Victoria this morning, when the members of the Union in the three biggest timber yards in the Metropolitan area failed to respond to the 7..5') whistles to start work. After this they found the doors locked against them. The yards affected are those of .John Sharp and Sons Ltd., the James Moor? and Sons Proprietary Ltd., and Millar’s Timber and Trading Coy. Ltd. All are in South Melbourne. CANBERRA, January 31. To make an effort to avert an extension of the timber dispute, the Federal Attorney-General, Mr Latham, and Senator Ogden, of the Department of Industry, are going to Melbourne tonight.
