A programme of the Hokitika Swimming Club for a novelty night carnival at the Swimming Baths,, appears with this issue as an inset. The date for the carnival is Thursday, February 7th.
The death took place at Hokitika yesterday of Air John Joseph Griffin of Stafford. Deceased was a native of Piper’s Hill and 56 years of age. He was a single man. His mother died last August. Deceased leaves three brothers (Messrs D. Griffin and T. Griffin of Wellington, and James of Stafford) and three sisters (Mesdames O’Brien of Reefton, E. Quinn of Greymouth and V. Pfeifer, of Stafford). Tlie funeral takes place to-morrow afternoon to Stafford cemetery.
