.Mimed Jan, formerly Governor ol Kabul, and Amanullah’s brother-in-law. has been procalimed King of Alghanistan liv Sliinwaris and other tribesmen at Jagdalak, near .Jalalabad, and is now inarching To Kabul. Jn view of this development the Government of India have decided to evacuate .British and foreign nationals from the Legations at Kabul. Two troop planes are leaving Peshawar this morning. Humphreys (British Minister) will be the last to leave. Possibly Amanullah will support Ali’s attempt to wrest, the throne from Baccha, AFGHAN REVOLUTION. LONDON, January 2L “The Times” llerliu correspondent reports that, despite the available information, the German newspapers, almost without exception, blame England for Afghanistan’s troubles. In the first place the papers accuse Eng|;iiid dif unseating King Amanulhih for his pro-British brother. The papers next accoinplisehd the remarkable leaf of blaming England lor the Dacca s coup. Colonel (“Aral.”) Lawrence enntiimes to he the pet aversion ol the anti-British organs. The “ Kruez Zeiluug” says: Colonel Lawrence told I lie hereditary Afghan Princes that they would disappear without leaving any trace unless they rejected King Amanullah.” The “ Vossiche Zeitung” declares that though Colonel Lawrence has gone, “ Britain’s wheels revolve as Smoothly as ever.” Statements from the German foreign Office have, deprecated these attacks, pointing out that the charges were unfounded, but only one newspaper publishes the 'facts. This paper adds that the reports current throughmil Germany emanate Irom Bolshevik sources. li says: “It is regret table that whenever anything happens in the East, up goes the cry : “ There s England’s hand.”
