CHANNEL TUNNEL

Rain love (French 'Minister for War) is the latest champion of the Channel tunnel, on winch he has issued a special statement. The “ Daily Mail’s” Paris correspondent states: This will act as a tonic on Franco-Bri-tisli relations, making the 1 raneo-Bri-tish people Siamese twins. European progress ridicules the military objections to the tunnel. It would bo fantastic and ludicrous to imagine tlu>t France would over invade England through such a tunnel, or that England would invade France through it. Therefore, it would be childish to criticise the tunnel in the name of national security. He tlien continues: The Channel tunnel does not belong to the realm of scientific experiment. Work on it can be performed in the immediate future. It presents less difficulty than eithoi the Suez or the Panama Canal. Its success cannot be questioned. When challenged. M.
