The Miners Federation officials sent ;t request to the Prime. Minister for a Royal Commission to inquire into the coal industry.

SYDNEY, Jan. 24. • ''There have -been no developments Lo-dav■.in' the coal crisis. Ihe miners representatives sav that the next move must come either from the Go\eriimont or the coal owners.
w-The full Council of the Miners’ Federation is meeting on February 5 ;it Newcastle. -
It is authoritatively stated here that the -coal owners are unlikely to take any action for a month. Meanwhile any . new proposal .would emanate from the Government. The industry is -carrying on without a hitch gidring the. interval. Air Ck M. Donald, chairman of the Collieries - Association. stated the owners-would declare their policy in a few days’ time, which is regarded :1S ominous. Inter-State shipping would first -feel the. effect of a strike, hut the railways and powerhouses have good reserves of coal.
