WATERSIDER KILLED. AUCKLAND, Jan. 25. John Vernon, aged 46, married, died at the hospital this morning from injuries sustained while working on the steamer Ulimaroa last evening. Vernon and a companion worker, Laurits Hansen, were struck by a sling of heavy timber. Vernon had his arm and leg broken, but Hansen’s injuries were not serious.
