Ladies’ singles.—Miss Marjorie Macfa rlane beat Miss Myers 3-6, 6-3, e-2. Ladies’ doubles.—Mrs Melody and Miss Shortt beat Mrs Adams and Miss Myers 6-3; 6-3. Combined doubles.—N. M ilson ami .Mrs Melody boat France and .Mrs Adams 5-7, 8-6, 7-5.
Men’s doubles.—Wilson and Malfroy beat Slcdman and Sturt 6-4, 7-5, 6-4. Handicap events.—Men’s singles, Earle (5) beat Miller (scr) 70-65; mmi’s doubles, Entwistle and Miller (15) beat Lowry and Wheeler (scr) 60-54; ladies’ singles, Miss Powdrell ('l2) heat Miss Lee (12) 50-41; ladies’ doubles, Miss Margaret Rutherford and Wright heat Mrs Ilollings and Miss Haggiit 50-43; combined doubles, Entwhistle and -Miss Marion Maefarlane beat Roydhouse and Mrs Steel 60-54. The West Coast Tennis Tournament opening was delayed yesterday at Greymouth, rain preventing play till late in the afternoon, when the following games were played. Men’s Championship Singles.—First Round: Lurking heat Phillips 6-3, 6-2. T. S. Williams heat M. C. Smith 6-3. 6-2. Warnos beat Gilbert 6-1. 6-3. Ladies’ Championship Singles.—Miss D. Scott (Canterbury) heat Miss M. McKay 9-1. Men’s Championship Doubles.— Quinn and Simpson beat Riordan and Smith 6-1, 6-2. Men’s “A” Grade Handicap Singles. —Fogarty (25) heat Jones (10) 50-4 S. .Men’s “R” Grade Handicap Singles. —Smunonds (25) heat Archer (scr) 50-36.
