Buffeted by a heavy sea. Hunter River Company's steamer Allyn River, of I<|3 tons, sprang a leak off C'olloroy Reach. Her timbers opened and water pound into the bold. The pomps were manned but the inrush of water was too much for the crew, and the Captain beached the ship at Rroken Bay, with water waist deep in the engine room. Had it risen smother six inches, the vessel would have probably plunged to the bottom. The steamer Gosford went to her assistance and transhipped the deck cargo. The Gosford later towed the waterlogged steamer back to Sydney. From the time they boarded the Allyn River on Monday, until they arrived back in Sydney, late last night, none of the crew had a wink of sleep. I'OW HR ALCOHOL. BRISBANE, dan. 23.
