STRANDED ZINGARA
Last evening an attempt was made to launch the Zingara out to sea. During the day wire ropes had been placed in position, one leading south down the beach and the other round the south tip-head across to the north breakwater. The vessel was on the move before 7 o’clock, and tbe bead swung round to sea, but at a critical time the hawser to the north breakwater carried away and the sea washed' the vessel to the -south breastwork, where sue came to rest and lies there at present with her nose alongside the woodwork and the stern some 20 to 30 feet further out. The little steamer Aland which it had boon intended was to assist in towing, developed a defect in her boiler and was unable to leavo the wharf. Tlieito was a large crowd on tip north shore watching the proceedings, in spite of very heavy rain that was falling most of the time. This morning there was a very heavy sea running, the waves breaking lor a long distance out. The vessel is lying steady in the same [wisition as last night, the sea not apparently making y any impression, the boat remaining ? steady.
