Although he has materially improved in the past fortnight, the impression that he has taken a big forward slrido should not lie formed. IT is progress, it i is repeated, is extremely shnv and ' tedious. The rays were again applied ton'ght. Lord Dawson was at the palace a shorter time than usual. HATH, COMPLETELY WHITE. LONDON. Jan. IC. The “Daily News” says the King has aged through his illness. His hair is now completely white. CONDITION SATISFACTORY. LONDON, January 17. A bulletin at 11.30 a.in. states the King had a good night and progress although slow, was satisfactory. The next bulletin will he issued mi Friday evening. Jk THE ” LANCET’S ” VIEWS. LONDON, January 17. The “Lancet” endorses the prognostications of the King’s medical advisers, and says at last we may indulge in happy anticipations of convalescence. The medical journal says it may he inIferred, without undue optimism, that his Majesty has definitely gained ground and the outlook is more hopeful than at any time for the past .seven weeks. Palace circles are pleased with the bulletin and point out it is the first, time the doctors have used the phrase “satisfactory progress.” The qualification “slow,” is understood to moan if r- progress is not faster it is nevertheless more definite. Commentators, however, are guarded, and emphasise the still long, tedious task ahead, Imt it may be gathered the King is gathering strength. Drs Dawson, Rigby, and Hewitt wore in consultation at the palace for ninety minutes.
