EVERYBODYS PICTURES. V ' “THE LAW OF THE RANGE” TO-NIGHT. k | An outdoor romance without any “hokum,” that is really natural and therefore all the more thrilling, is Tim McCoy’s latest starring vehicle for Aletro-Goldwyri-Mayer, “The Lnw of /the Range,” which is to be shown 9 night at the Princess Theatre. McCoy is an ideal outdoor star, and Joan Crawford makes a beautiful .and graceful lady rancher. The story is a thrillful yoi romance of Texas in the 80’s/when men fought for what they wanted, and justice was on the side of the man who pulled the trigger first. They were roaring adventurous, days indeed when redskins and bandits preyed .upon the unfortunate pioneers. There are thrills galore (for even the most critical of movie-goers. A'hold-up,' thrilling cattle stampede, and a raging bush fire that is the real thing—full of dramatic incidents and photographed in natural colours—punctuate the development'of the sweet love story of Jim Lockhart (Tim McCoy) and Petty Dallas (Joan. Crawford).' Rex Lease, a. very handsome juvenile, fills his- role with dash j/md artistry, and Tenen Holtz and Rodil Rosing also do excellent work. William Nigh, who directed those recent successes “Mr Wu ” and “The Fire Brigade,” also directed “ The Law olf the Range.” These three? pictures make a splendid Nigh trio. Those who have been following the hair-raising adventures of XV allace MacDonald in the chapter play, “ Whispering Smith Rides,” at tfie Princess Theatre, will be interested to know that dark deeds are afoot for the next chapter, entitled “The Trail of Sacrifice,” which will he shown on Friday. The'forces of evil will have to get busy arid round >out their nefarious works now or never, and the tong Gunlock Hole gang is one bunch off desperadoes’' who can be depended upon to stop at nothing. Even now the beau•titfiif heroine lies dead —or at least a Jot <L. people think so. It does not Hfsee.m possible that any/good coukl have \ cniiie of il. e big dynamite explosion that;took place right under her feet at the end of the last episode; but chapter •nine; is said to he full of surprises, and nothing could be more surprising than to see the pretty damsel drag herself out (from under the debris. , On Saturday, Johnny Hines in “ Home Made.”
