The tug Westland on arrival from Greymouth this afternoon came over tho bar into the river. After turning in the river, while endeavouring to get close to the south wall, the Westland went aground on a bank of sand in front of the south wall, and was soon hard and fast, the seas beating her further up. There is a lino of low water piles in front of the south wall, some fourteen feet out, and it is feared that if the tug strikes theso that serious damage may bo caused. The grounding of the tug prevented a’ny attempt at assistance being given the Zingara which w r as being driven further up tho Lciicli by tho seas.
