INQUEST VliltMOT. (By Telegraph—Press Association). NAPIER, January S. At the inquest on James Johnston, found dead in his hut on Sunday morning, a verdict was returned that death was due to heart failure. Deceased had refused to adopt the necessary diet prior to an operation lor a carbuncle and left the hospital. r Jhe doctor said death was due to toxic condition affecting the blood. FOUND DROWNED. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 8. The body of Herbert Murray, a fireman, aged 50, was found in the Lyttelton Harbour this morning. He had Ihccii missing from the s.s. Cumberland since Dec. 31st. He is believed to lie a widower, of Liverpool. UNCUSTOMED OPIUM. TAURANGA, Jan. 8. The police yesterday, with the local Collector of Customs, raided a shop on the Strand occupied by A. H. Dong, CMiinc.se fruiterer, and they discovered a quantity of uncustomed opium. Eater A. H. Dong and his assistant, Moi You Fong, were brought before two Justices. Both pleaded guilty, the former was fined £SO for having, opium in his possession, and the latter £25 for smoking it.
