SOLOMON MURDERS
TRIBUTE TO ADMINISTRATOR. (United Press Association.—By ElectricTelegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, Jan. 4. The report of Lieutenant Colonel Sir H. Aloorliouse upon the Solomon Islands is published in a white paper. It states that Tuatakombo and B'H.Vviti were the chief instigators of the murders. The former had a bad record. He was comparatively rich and had the ambition to become bead of the clan. Billyviti supported the Government until fined three pounds under the adultery regulation, whereupon he joined Tuatakamobo’s party. The murders were not due to general hatred of Government measures, but to personal element. The report pays tributes to Mr Roll’s administration, and says he dealt with the people with great patience and forbearance. In regard to the 198 detainers at Tulagi, Sir H. Aloorhou.se expresses the opinion that the Administration was completely exonerated from any suggestion of callousness and neglect implied in the expression “black hole of Tulagi,” which appeared in one paper abroad. Apart from sixteen deaths from bacillary dystenry, the general health of detainees had greatly improved since their arrival.
