INVENTOR OF THE SAXOPHONE.
Adolplm Sax was the .son of an instrument maker and was horn at Linnnt in 181-1. lie inherited his father’s love for experimenting and improving instruments. He was only very voting when he improved the clarinet, which improvement was very well received in musical circles in Paris. Alter that lie constructed new instruments, all of which he called alter himsclt saxhorn, saxophone and saxtromha. These were highly praised hv Berlioz. Ha levy, and Aubcr. .Mayerbcor used them in his orchestra 'lor opera, especially in the score of “The llugenots” •nid •• The Prophet.” Put success was not. lasting, soon Sax and his instruments were forgotten, and he died miserable and poor. A revival of one instrument. occurred later, and the saxophone is one of the most popular instruments ol modern times.
