MIDSUMMER MEETING. The meeting proved very successful. 'I here was a good attendance and the trailing was good. The handieapper had concealed the winners very siieCisslully and substantial dividends were the order of the day, that lor the Westland Handicap living the largest lor the day, the lowest supported candidate in the field of eleven getting home. (11) Young Author scr 1 (I) Neeoro scr 2 (6) Fair Lad 83vds 3 Scr: Spotlight. Won by 4 lengths. In the race for the Westland Club Handicap Young Author led with Erie Dazzle and Neeoro. Coming down the hill the last time Neeoro took the lead hut- broke at the corner and Young Author again took charge, and ran home a winner by a length with Fair Lad four lengths away third. Tote £11251. Time 4.50.

A protest was entered by W. J. Moir, owner of Neeoro, against Young Author on the grounds of interference at the top of the straight. After hearing the evidence the Judicial Committee dismissed the protest. Mr Moir then entered an appeal to the Trotting Association, and as a result the investments on the totalisntor for the race were impounded until the Association makes its decision. STAFFORD HANDICAP, (in saddle), of £BO. li miles. (3) Spotlight 36yds 1 (2) Roachdalo scr 2 (5) Queen’s Ferry 24yds 3 Also started.—Great Adventure and Lady Bee. Roaclulalo led from Spotlight and Groat Adventure, hut coming down the hack on the last round Spotlight went to the front, and at the finish won easily by two lengths, with Queen’s Ferry two lengths away third. Time 3.3 3-5. Tote £555. DOMINION TROTTERS HANDICAP, (in harness), of £9O. 2 miles. (2) Olive Nelson 24yds 1 (1) Plum Tree 36vds 2 (4) Alton Brook scr 3 Eight started, Boneta and Merry Peter being scratched. Rapture led with Alton Brook and Olive Nelson leading tho field. The second time past the post Rapture and Olive Nelson were still in the lead but the former left his fleet, and in the run home Olive Nelson won handily by two lengths from plum Tree with Alton Brook four lengths away third. Time 5.12. Tote £SOO. AVIATION HANDICAP, (in harness), of £BO. li miles. (3) Rod Bey 12yds 1 (4) Rcta Nelson 24yds 2 (.2) Wallace Logan scr 3 Eleven started, Routine being scratched. Red Rey led from Val Logan. Tn the straight Reta Nelson came fast but failed to get; to Red Rey who won by a length with Wallace Logan two lengths away third. Time 3.3 4-5. Tote £991. final handicap, (in saddle), of £BO- 1 mile. (3) Rap 36yds 1 (2) Pavlova scr 2 (4) Merry Peter 12yds 3 Eight started, Guy Pointer being scratched. A good race. Won by one and a half lengths; Merry Peter two lengths away third. Time 2.21. Tote £785.
