The death occurred at Helonsville to-day of Robert Allan, for many years a prominent business man of Nelson. THEFT CHARGE. GISBORNE, Jan. 4. Two young men, Robert Cyrl Southward and Francis Charles Gomel’, were committed to the Supreme Court, Wellington, for sentence, on four charges of theft committed at various stores, whilst on a cycling tour. BIGAMY CHARGE. CHRISTCHURCH, January 4. At the Magistrate’s Court, Albert Edward Herbert Vince, pleaded guilty to a charge olf bigamy and was committed for sentence. The charge was that having married Violet Alary Guldens at Otaki on September 6th, 1923, lie went through a form of mar-' riage with Emily Marion Jewell at Hamilton on June 6th. 1928. In. a. statement to the police, accused said his wife cleared out from him and he married the second woman under tlio name of Hubert Allan Burns, making out he was a bachelor. DEATH IN BARBER’S SHOP. , AUCKLAND, January 4. Mitchell Arthur Walker, aged about fifty, died in a hairdresser’s saloon this morning. He was a visitor to the city. His identity was discovered 'from a Post Office Savings Bank book. A testimonial showed he had worked as a cook at Taumarunui.
