The body of Vera Howard, who was drowned at South Brighton on Monday. was recovered at 1.20 p.m. today. The beach patrol, Messrs F. Stokes, A. Stokes, and C. Bryant, were diving in the pot holes under the New Brighton pier when they discovered the body.
INFANT KILLER IN CAR SMASH AUCKLAND. January 2. A motor ear accident at Otaua near Waiiiku, resulted in tlic death of the infant son of Mrs \Vilson, who was on a visit to Mrs Sam Bright, of Of ana. The ear was being driven on the main road towards Otaua, when one of the tyres blew out. I lie ear skidded and capsized. The other passengers escaped with shock and bruises. youth succumbs to injuries. PALMERSTON N., January 2. The death occurred at the Hospital this afternoon, of Oliver Anderson, aged 18, who was admitted on New Year’s Bay, as the result of injuries received when a ear, in which lie was travelling, capsized into a swamp near Sanson. The car was struck from behind by another causing it to capsize. The other occupants were uninjured. Deceased was a resident of Foxton.
