CHRISTCHURCH, January 1

Yesterday afternoon, a car driven by John de Latour, Grange Hills South Canterbury, was struck by a train at Weedons, and Phyllis Benson, aged 14, died of injuries. Of the six other occupants, Airs de Latour is suffering from injuries to the head and back. Her condition is serious. Josephine Benson, aged four, suffers from a compound fracture of tbe left ; hipt-condition. critical. John de .Latour, aged 28, received injuries to the face, and body. His condition is serious. Nihra Benson, Cyril de Latour, and Lenora Benson are, suffering from minor injuries.

Tbe driver did not see the train till it struck him.
