Mow a father gave his life for his daughter was revealed h.v Purcell, who went to the assistance of Stanley Wallace, aged ,‘SO, and his daughter when they were carried out by the undertow at Belgola Roach. Wallace, who was having a hard tussle with the waves, supporting bis daughter, said to Purcell: “Never mind me; take the child.” Purcell managed to reach the shore and meantime two brothers went to the assistance of Wallace. The three men were washed dangerously near the rocks, but eventually succeeded in reaching the beach. However, Wallace was dead.
The girl was unconscious and Pur cell was exhausted, when assistei ashore. Hot h were revived ai'tc lengthy treatment.
