JUMPED IN ROILING LAKE. (Dy Telegraph—Per Press Association.) ROTORUA, December 21. An unknown man, poorly (Tail, jumped info a boiling lake at W'haka at 1 p.m. to-da.v, before horrified spectators. The police and a Aiaori caretaker were soon tin the spot with grappling irons. The. body was recovered an hour and a half after, and removed to the morgue. llis age appeared to he about 55, height 5 foot 10 inches, and of medium build. BABY DROWNED. ROTODUA, December 19. Doreen Hoyden T’woiney. aged 17 months, the daughter of Roy Twomey, tea-room proprietor, was drowned yesterday at Rotorua, by falling into a lake. Tin* body was immediately recovered, but medical aid failed to restore animation. JUMPER FROM WIRELESS MAST. WELLINGTON. December 21. At the inquest to-day into the death of Melville Wood, aged 18. who was killed on Wednesday evening through jumping from the aerial tower of the Broadcasting Station 2YA on Alt. Victoria, the verdict was to the effect that deceased died Irom injuries received through jumping Irom a wireless mast, while in a state of extreme mental depression, caused by an attack of meningitis.
