TWO AYO-MEN CONVICTED

CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 20
Five charges of shop-lifting tyero preferred against two women, Amy Celina Courtenay. (36) and Anita Esther Wilson (28) involving amounts to the total, of CIO. . At.the Magistrate’s Court the women pleaded guilty. Chief Detective Carroll stated that accused were sisters who were seen taking away articles from Beath and C'o’s. Tho police on visiting tlio premises of accused discovered other articles which accused frankly admitted taking from shops. The younger woman was married with two children. Afagistrate Mosley said these offences have extended over a lengthy period. It is difficult to know exactly what to do with those women. Offences of this sort should bo dealt with by an adequate penalty. Accused were remanded till to-morrow.
