Kilonis again made himself very unpopular by adopting rough and illegal tactics, liequently necessitating the intervention of the referee. There was an angry demonstration in the sixth roil nil, when Kilonis thumped McCarthy’s head several times heavily on the hoards outside the ropes. The referee ordered Kilonis hack into the ring, Kilonis replying by catching the referee, L. Wilson, by the shirtfront and ripping it right down the front. The crowd surged round the ring, and when McCarthy re-entered, the referee held up .McCarthy’s hand, the crowd cheering wildly in delight, thinking that Kilonis had been disqualified. However, the referee merely awarded a penalty fall to McCarthy. Kilonis had previously obtained a Boston crab hold in the fifth round and secured the deciding fall in the eigtli round, with an arm lock. There was a prolonged outburst of hooting at the close when Kilonis was declared the winner, and McCarthy was cheered to the echo.
