SYDNEY, Dec. 13. The new Government- Savings Bank in Sydney, with frontages to three main thoroughfares, costing a million and a half sterling, was officially opened to-day by tho Premier, Mr Bavin, in the presence of a thousand representative men and women. Mr Bavin described the Bank as the second largest savings hank in the British Empire with di ;os its ol seventy millions sterling. The material used in its construction is largely polished granite. The interior of the banking chamber is most beautiful, besides being one ol the largest in the world.
