M urdoeli:— “ Please accept my thanks for your kind invitation to tie present at the forthcoming race meeting at Hokitika. I desire to compliment your Club upon I In l very satisfactory arrangements you have made for the condort and accommodation of visitors to your course in so short a time after the unfortunate loss saliened hy you through the recent lire in the grandstands. ‘•ln common with many others 1 always enjoy a visit to the invariably well-conducted race meetings hold on the Hokitika Racecourse, not only in the sport provided, hut in the peculiarly enjoyable facilities provided for lyeeting old friends. In fact, I feel I am saiie in saying that the Hokitika race gatherings are looked forward to throughout the year hy many as another opportunity for social, pleasant and harmonious re union. “ Please accept the enclosed cheque < for live guineas as a donation to the ‘ funds of your Club, and also my best wishes for a successful meeting.” .Mr .Murdoch’s donation and letter have been appreciated with a very cordial acknowledgment, the praise ol the (’lull’s management in the conduct of its race meetings being specially acceptable.
