MAGISTRATE’S COURT

(Before AA T . Aleldrum, Esq., S.M.) THURSDAY, DECEAfBER, 13. LICENSING ACT. On charges of being on licensed premises unlawfully after hours the following were charged and couvicied. Two offenders (Red Lion Hotel) ordered to pay -costs K).s each. One offender (Club Hotel) ordered to pay costs 10s. Two offenders 'Keller’s Hotel), one trdorerl to pay costs 10s and tin other was fined 20s and costs 10s. Two others (Dunedin Hotel) were ordered to pay costs 10s. The Police charged .T. J. Mclntosh, licensee of the Red Lion Hotel] with keeping open for sale and with selling liquor after hours. No appear anre of defendant. Fined £5 and costs 10s. Charged with supplying liquor alter hours J. J. AfcTntosh, dr., (Red Lion Hotel) was fined £1 and costs 10s. The Police charged AA’iUiam Hall, licensee of the Dunedin Hotel with keeping open after hours, and Florence Hall with supplying after hours. Air Sellers for defendants pleaded guilty. Hal! was fined £5 and costs lOs and Airs Hall £2 and costs 10s. THEFT CHARGE, The Police charged James Foote. Jr.. (Afr Afurdoch) with theft of nine knives from the fish shop rxf AA’. Reid. V plea of guilty was made by Air Murdoch who stated that his client had been carried away in the con me of a prank and was now extremely sorry. He had returned the knives to tlm police and expressed contrition. S-ergt. King said the fa ts were | as stated bv Air Alurdoch. ‘Fined 20s and costs 10s. An application for sup’iresHon of the name was refused lii-, AVorship stating he was old enough to know better. DEBT CASES. Ernest D. Oxnam (Air Alurdoch) v. Patrick O’Connor, judgment summons VI 13s fid. Order made for payment forthwith, with counsel’s fee 15s fid, in default seven days. The other cases called had been settled.
