The Department of Agriculture estimates. the New South Wales wheat yield for the current season at fortyeight million bushels.
A CONFERENCE. MELBOURNE Dec. 13
The Commonwealth Steamship Owners’ Asoeiation lias been notified that the Waterside Workers’ Federation lias accepted the Shipowners’ offer of a conference on Tuesday next, to discuss employment of members of the Federation.
SEDITIOUS LIBEL
ADELAIDE, Dee. 13
Edward Dickinson, a labourer, was sentenced to imprisonment for six months and fined £4O for seditious libel. He was also sentenced to three months and fined £IOO for having participated jin a V'iot at the criminal court.
The seditious libel was contained in a pamphlet headed “Direct Action” This is the first prosecution of the kind in youth Australia.
