AMUSEMENTS.

EVERYBODYS PICTURES. “THE NIGHT PATROL ” —FRIDAY. A story that rushes irresistibly to a big dramatic climax that has in it all the comedy and stunts for which Richard Tala nidge is famous, and that is vividly gripping from start to finish will be shown on Friday for the first time here—“ The Night Patrol.” The name of Dick Talmadge is familiar 1 all who love action-comedy, liherall• interspersed with daring tricks and brilliant acrobatics; but it is rare indeed that the F. 8.0. star has enjoyed such a vehicle as the present. Fran' - Howard Clarke, who has done some stories for -Mr Talmadge in the past has turned out a rattling tale of the underworld with a two-handed puncl for the climax. Through it all Dick bounds as Patrolman Tom Collins, whose evidence puts the brother of thcgirl he loves in jeopardy of the eleetri' chair an'd who eventually saves the boy from that highly uncomfortable not to say dangerous, seat. An exceptional cast has been assembled behind the star. Mary Carr, in the paid of Mrs Hollsiter, gives one of her de lightiful interpretations, and Gladys Hulette proves a charming heroine. Grace Darmond, Victor Dillingham Arthur Conrad and Charles Clary are others who do excellent work. A snorting . locomotive bearing a cargo of death was diashing to the scene of a great strike riot when the last foot of film was projected to the screen of the Princess Theatre at last week’s showing of the big railroad Ad venture serial, “ Whispering Smith Rides,” in which Wallace MacDonaL is starred. It looks very much as i> there would be no more MacDonald for the hero was closely pressed b\ overpowering numbers, but the next thrilling chapter, which will be shown at the Princess Theatre on Friday may reveal some of the quick thinking and catlike action of MacDonald which ha c saved his life more than once during his chapter play career. The coming episode, which is entitled “The Ambush.” is said to contain the most gripping plot developments and most astonishing action as yet recorded in railroad saga.
