During a. fight between two men over a hcLting transaction, at a hotel in Waterloo Suburb last night, Robert Prophett, MU, attempted to ’ separate the combatants, when somebody lired a revolver and shot Prophett in the ;«hdomeii, critically injuring him. The police have arrested a young, man, who was seen to walk outside with a revolver in his hand. Prophett- was a former Alderman of that municipality. MURDER CM A RUE. SYDNEY, Dee. 1.0. The victim of the Waterloo shoot - ini'. Prophett. died to-day. M humus Carney, twenty-six. being charged with having murdered Prophett.
