TILDEN’S POSITION. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). NEW YORK, December 9. The “New York Times” sporting editor says: “ lif the Amateur Rules Committee finds that Tilden is chastened in spirit and ready to promise that lie will conform with the letter and intent of the amateur rules, his reinstatement may be expected to follow the Executive Committee meeting on Bth February, so the matter is put squarely to Tilden. It is understood that at a meeting to-day it was decided Tilden should be sounded on his attitude to determine whether lie bad taken the lesson to heart.”' The news writer-player rule had been approved by the Executive Committee and which will be voted on by United States Lawn Tennis Association at a meeting in February, would make it impossible for any member of the United States international team to write for compensation or not. NEW YORK, Dec. 8. Definite action, on the application, for reinstatement by Tilden was postponed until February by the Executive of the United States Lawn Tennis Association on Saturday,
