A shocking level crossing tragedy occurred near .Uakauri, about seven mill's from Gisborne, this altonmun, as the result of which a man named John Benny, forty-live years ol age, single, was killed instantaneously. Penny was driving a motor lorry, and, despite the laot that lie had a clear view of the railway track lot nearly a-quartor of a mile, attempted to cross in front of a goods train, and was struck by the engine, being killed instantly. The lorry was smashed to pieces. Deceased’s father is believed to he living in Auckland. LAUNCH MYSTERY. - OCCUPANT STILL .MISSING. INVERCARGILL, December fi. The search for George Graham, who set out on Monday Irom Port Tiaig in a launch, which was washed ashore on Tuesday, was continued yesterday without success.
