During last week-end the premises of Christie, tobacconist, of Rangitikei Street, were broken info and a sale coni: lining a considerable sum ol money removed in addition to a large quantity of stock. Tiiis morning Detective Raiding arrested .James Morton McGill, agt d 24. :t car salesman, of Dan uevirke, who was charged with breaking and entering the premises ami removing therefrom a safe containing £l4 in cash and £2O in cheques. On accused being remanded to December 14ill counsel applied for hail, which Senior-Detective Quirk opposed. The sale, he said, had uftt yet been traced. The principal evidence against the accused at present is finger prints found on the premises. The Bench refused bail.
