(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph--Copyright).
(Received this day at 11.25. a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 5.
The situation in the mining areas in Britain is unparallelled in living memory, says Rt. Hon Neville Chamberlain in a letter to tin* Coiiteren e of Mayors, on thi* discussion of the allocation of the Lord Mayors rebel fund. He added the salient ioat-ure is ihe mining industry is not likely to re-employ in large proportion of the workless. Their unemployment must he regarded as permanent. I lie ultimate solution consists of migration from the devastated areas, and elsewhere. Tt is the Government’:' policy to facilitate migration by every means. The interval must he bridged through relief payments to prevent those unemployed I min sinking into irretrievable exhaustion and ruin.
