A poll of tho rate payers in connection with the 09000 water worics loan, was tak- n in Westport to-day. and resulted in the proposal being carried,by a-majority of 38. Only a small percentage of ratepayers voted. Hie result of the poll was its follows: — For the proposal 198 Against ... UiO
Majority A total of 380 voles were east
The witter supply proposals, estimated to cost C9OOD, are as 'follows (I) The carrying of new 21-inch pipes to connect with mains at the well house ; estimated cost £3,300. (2) Cleaning ol the reservoir, estimated cost Cl.-109. (3) New 21-inch .pipes to lead front No. 3 reservoir to the main line, £1,250. Cl) Connecting main with ihe reservoir, estimated cost £SO. (o) Raising the mains through the swamp and bridge over Easton’s Creek. Estimated cost, C3OOO.
