There was launched at Aasebo to-day the destroyer Wranami, believed to be the world's largest, a notable addition to the navy, exceeding the power of a light cruiser.

At Chicago. .Mrs Ella Goyne sought a divorce from her husband. “ He’s a plumber,” she exclaimed breathlessly.
“ There is on offence in that.” remarked the Court.
“ But wait,” replied the lady. “ For fifteen years T pestered him to repair a leak in the kitchen pipes. He always put me off. Last Saturday night he came home slightly stunned and announced soothingly that be would mend that pipe. He took off bis coat and then said, ‘Ella, it’s no use. 1 can’t go on. I’ve got to send back to the shop for my tools.’ ” Divorce granted,” said the judge.
BRITISH REPLY
INCLINED TO GERMAN VIEWPOINT.

The British reply to Berlin, on the subject of reparations, has hoen communicated to Paris, Pome, and Brussels. It is understood to be the work of Mr Winston Churchill, at the Treasury. and not the Foreign Office. It contains brief answers to the five points raised in the German memorandum. It is believed that it inclines generally to Berlin’s viewpoint. Tt is not certain yet whether the draft will become a joint reply or form the basis of identic notes.

APPLICATIONS FOR TREASURY BONDS INVITED.
(Received this day at 11 a.m;) LONDON, Nov. 29. Government is inviting applications for'four and a half percent. Treasury bonds 1923-24 at £99. Holders of o per cent. National War Bonds and 4}- Treasury Bonds, due Ist. February 1929, which it is estimated aggregated about 173 millions, are invited to convert them into new issue, which carries the right of conversion into 4 per cent, consols July 1929.
