BANKRUPT MISSING

At a meeting oi creditors to-day of Keith Robertson, service station proprietor, the Official Assignee said the bankrupt was not attending and was reported to have left the Dominion. No .statement by the bankrupt had been received but it was represented that the amount owing to unsecured creditors was L‘IV()7 R) s 3d. The trial assets were Clo 9 1-ls and deficiency C 1.597 Bis 3d. r l lit* principal creditors are: Shell Oil Co. (MOO, A. S. Paterson (Cliristcliurch) £‘2(lo 18s 3d, Vacuum Oil Coy. .C 91.8 19s (id. The Assignee suggested that before any further steps were taken, the bankrupt's solicitors in Christchurch he asked to furnish a statement of moneys received and dealt with in connection with the sale of certain shares held by bankrupt. This was agreed to.

Obituary.—Tolln Alexander Wilson, aged 72, formerly Public Works resident engineer at Wellington, and district engineer in Auckland earlier, lie was the first -engineer in (barge at Otira for the .Midland railway construction and also Greymoiitli and Westport harbour works. A HOAX. CHRISTCHURCH, November 90. The Mayor and the Town Clerk were the victims of a successful hoax early this morning, when they were called away from their beds by telephone messages, informing them that the City Council offices were on fire, and that the Fire Brigade had been lighting the flames desperately for a quarter of an hour. The .Mayor received the first call at 12.13 o’clock, the person giving tin* ring stating he was the ’I own ( ierk. Two minutes later the Town Clerk received a call to the same effect from a man who said he was “young Archer.” Without waiting to make further inquiries they both'rushed into the City, only to find that they had been the victims of a practical joke.
